The most Expensive Section of the Ring-road in Sofia Opens

Bulgaria's Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev, Sofia Mayor Boyko Borissov and Road Infrastructure Agency Director Yanko Yankov opened Tuesday the most expensive highway section in the country. The new road is 4, 5 km long and its construction cost about 54 million leva provided by the Bulgarian government. The new road is with six lanes (three in each direction), two local-express lanes and two sidewalks. Two sewers for draining the road are constructed. Along the entire length of the object in the local lanes is built housing sewage leads to each property, cast-iron plumbing and drainage. Pipe network for power and telephone cables is built under the sidewalks. There are supporting and strengthening walls. There is new street lighting and the pillars are located in the dividing strip 50 meters from one another. The speed limit along the ring-road is 80 km/h. The building of “Dragalevtsi” and “Simeonovo” road junctions has also been completed. The mayor of Sofia announced that the construction of a 3-km-long section of the ring-road to reach Kambanite district is to start in February2009. The capital's municipality has already submitted the project for the northern tangent, which is to complete the ring-road and will ease the traffic on Trakiya and Lyulin highways.
