The Population of Varna Numbers almost 1 million

There are about 970000 people who live in Varna even though the number of the officially registered ones is 359 801. The growth of the population in 2008 is about 30% when for the first six months it is estimated at 15, 9% and 48% for the remaining period. There are about 230 000 employed people in Varna according to the information from the municipal directorate “Information and administrative services”. The mayor of Varna, Kiril Yoranov, called upon changes in the legislation in order to include the Police in the census. Despite there are regulations for registration of the residents in Bulgaria, they are not applied in Varna for the past 8 years. According to the mayor of Varna there should be changes in the legislation which will bind citizens to register when they change their address. The municipality is unable to claim for bigger budget in the present situation. Based on the presented data so far, the most populated in Varna is “Primorski” district with population of 102791 people, followed by “Mladost” district – 87428 people. There are 85192 people registered in “Odesos” district, 48252 people residing in “Vladislav Varnenchik” district and 27041 people in “Asparuhovo”. The registered population in the village of Topola is 2987 people; 2571 people reside in the village of Kamenar; 1208 in the village of Konstantinovo, 1014 in Zvezditsa and 338 people are registered in the village of Kazashko.
