The award "Architect of the Year 2008" will be bestowed on February 23, 2009 at 6 p.m. in the Central house of the architect on 11 Krakra Str. in Sofia. The national competition "Architect of the Year" is organized each year by the Newspaper "Arch & Art Forum" - a national weekly magazine of Bulgarian architects, builders and painters. The competition is held with the support of the Union of Architects in Bulgaria. This year is its 14th edition. Newspaper "Arch & Art Forum" took the difficult and responsible task to gather in a common exposure the best architectural achievements of the previous year. This national competition is the culmination of the activities of the publication to present the most worthy projects and conversions throughout the country. The "Architect of the Year 2008" states that the Bulgarian architecture is alive and it would be difficult to room the creative enthusiasm of the Bulgarian architect. The jury identifies five nominations, which continue in the race. The winner is determined just before the ceremony. The award for preserved architectural heritage, which is awarded for successful restoration business, will be given for the fist time. Winner of the award "Architect of the Year 2008" receives a unique plastic work of our famous sculptor Boris Andreev - Reggio.
