Bulgaria Defense Minister to Meet Polish Counterpart in Warsaw
Bulgarian Defense Minister Nikolay Nenchev is due to hold talks with Poland's Deputy PM and Defense Minister Tomasz Siemoniak on Monday, February 16.
The two are expected to discuss the implementation of commitments taken by NATO member states at the Alliance's Wales summit last year, but also the prospects of boosting bilateral cooperation in the defense industry, according to a statement of the Ministry of Defense in Sofia.
Reports of public broadcaster BNR suggest the option of Bulgaria having its MiG-29s refurbished in Poland will also be tabled.
Last year Nenchev pointed to Poland as one of the possible destination where the outdated aircraft could be repaired, with a maintenance contract with Russia expiring in the summer of 2015.
